Technology and Business

Operating a business in a fast-paced technological era will not be hard if the business operators know how to go with the flow. As one saying goes, "when life gives you lemons, then make a lemonade", logically, use the best of what is given; if the generation offers technology, then use the available technology to improve business operation.

The existence of the internet and computer and its function as information superhighway delivers the entire population the most accurate and timely data. When owning and managing a fleet, the existing internet technology with GPS is the best formula for the fastest possible and expected delivery of the required data.

GPS technology is recognized to be helpful in such businesses around the globe. In the Philippines, the same technology is known for fleet management (as how other countries utilize it). Though appearing as a relatively new industry, utilization of GPS in the Philippines has started more than a decade ago. Webcast Technologies, Inc. has started with the business since August 2000 and is leading in developing and customizing GPS solutions fitted to a company's needs.

Google Maps

Google Maps, as defined:
A map and directions Web site from Google. Similar to Mapquest, Google Maps provides turn-by-turn directions to a destination along with 2D satellite and 3D earth views; however, Maps also offers photographic views of the turns, which show the real streets and surroundings. -pcmag.com

The given definition is a brief grasp on what we do and how we use google maps. Sure, hundred percent of the internet population browsed through this site when looking for a place or location. Arriving in a desired place or location with less hassle of being lost with the directions is what google maps mainly aided.

Google maps can be browsed through mobile phones as well. Direction and movement tracker will depend on the mobile phone. If it is gps-enabled, google maps will be able to track the user's movement and direction.

Useful as it is, google maps will be more efficient when used with a gps-abled device. But users must recognize the limitations in terms of connectivity (internet and network signal), battery life, and budget (the service with gps has a cost but not that much).

GPS boosts up the capability of such sites and applications, as what it does with google maps. In the Philippines, google maps is a widely-known site, and in technology, GPS is soon to be widely known as well.
